It's actually been airing since February on the new Noggin channel, a co-venture of Viacom's Nickelodeon and the Children's Television Workshop. Although Republic is a small ($68 million annual revenues) independent studio, it scored a coup by beating out several major studios to obtain home video licensing rights to the Children's Television Workshop. Over a four-year period that began in November 1990, the program, produced by the New York City-based Children's Television Workshop, will focus on contributions of African-Americans, Native Americans, Latinos and Asian Americans. |
