Chosenia
a genus of plants of the family Salicaceae. There is a single species, C. arbutifolia (formerly C. macrolepis). A rapidly growing tree, it has an erect trunk measuring 25–30 m in height (sometimes to 37 m). The tree is found in Korea, Japan, Northeast China, and the USSR (in the Far East and East Siberia— west to Baikal). The wood is used for telegraph poles, bridges, and various small articles.
