chromatics [krō′mad·iks]
(optics)
The branch of optics concerned with the properties of colors.
The part of colorimetry concerned with hue and saturation.

Chromatics 

the systematized set of physical, physiological, and psychological data that pertain to the perception and discrimination of color. Chromatics includes the physical theory of color, the theory of color vision, and problems of the measurement and quantitative description of color (see). The rapid development of chromatics in the last third of the 20th century is associated with progress in constituent branches of the science.
