the science of colour chromatics [krō′mad·iks] (optics) The branch of optics concerned with the properties of colors. The part of colorimetry concerned with hue and saturation. Chromatics the systematized set of physical, physiological, and psychological data that pertain to the perception and discrimination of color. Chromatics includes the physical theory of color, the theory of color vision, and problems of the measurement and quantitative description of color (see).
