Chu Shih-Chieh Chinese mathematician of the 13th century. In his treatise Precious Mirror of the Four Elements, Chu described a method for solving numerical equations similar to Horner’s method and presented methods for forming equations. Chu developed a notation for equations of higher degree in four unknowns and solved a number of problems that reduce to such equations. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
