Arnold Schwarzenegger has mandated a 20 percent reduction in public building energy costs by 2015, construction was recently completed on a 1-megawatt photovoltaic system--6,816 panels--at the Chuckawalla Valley State Prison.
One of those companies, SunEdison, owns and maintains a solar farm on Chuckawalla Valley State Prison property that consists of five acres of ground-mounted solar panels.
Classes at Ironwood are taught by faculty members from nearby Palo Verde Community College, in the town of Blythe, which is also offering classes at Ironwood's sister facility, the Chuckawalla Valley State Prison.
