Churchman, C. (Charles) West (1913– ) systems theorist; born in Philadelphia. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Pennsylvania and joined the business school faculty at the University of California: Berkeley (1958). He specialized in systems, operations, and decision-making. His books include The Systems Approach (coedited, 1968, later revised).
