| Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, a member of the fungal order Chytridiales, causes amphibian chytridiomycosis, an emerging infectious disease (1). No significant morphologic differences between chytrids infecting Australian and Central American amphibians were found by transmission electron microscopy, and the pathogen was identified as a member of the order Chytridiales by analysis of zoospore ultrastructure and 18s rDNA sequence data (28). |
