Staffa (stăf`ə), uninhabited island, 3-4 mi (1.2 km) long and 1-4 mi (.4 km) wide, Argyll and Bute, NW Scotland, one of the Inner Hebrides, near Mull. Famous for Fingal's Cave Fingal's Cave , cavern, 227 ft (69 m) long, celebrated for its unusual beauty, on Staffa island, one of the Inner Hebrides, W Scotland. The entrance is an archway supported by basaltic columns 20 to 40 ft (6.1–12.2 m) high. The cave is inundated by the sea.
