Claude, Jean (zhäN klōd), 1619–87, French Protestant theologian. As Protestant pastor at Paris, Claude received considerable attention for his disagreements with the Roman Catholic apologist Jacques Bossuet, Pierre Nicole, and the Jansenist Antoine Arnauld. He was expelled from France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes.
