Activities: Camping, hunting, fishing, boating, kayaking, rafting, hiking, ORV riding, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing. Special Features: Forest is composed mainly of deep forested canyons interspersed with high, rugged ridges. Attractions include the Lewis and Clark Highway (US 12), a scenic drive through some of Northern Idaho's most beautiful scenery, with interpretive stops along the way; Lewis and Clark and Nez Perce national historic trails (see separate entries in national trails section); Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness; Mallard-Larkins Pioneer Area.
