Coatsworth, Elizabeth (Jane) (1893–1986) writer, poet; born in Buffalo, N.Y. She graduated from Vassar College, (1915) and Columbia University (M.A. 1916). She wrote popular books for young readers, including The Cat Who Went to Heaven (1930) and The Sod House (1954), a story of immigrants who move to Kansas.
