Cobb, Frank Irving (1869–1923) editor; born in Shawnee County, Ky. Joining Joseph Pulitzer's New York World as editorial page editor and heir apparent in 1904, he was editor in chief from 1911 until his death; he spoke forcefully for liberal causes and became a close adviser to President Woodrow Wilson.
