Cock of the Rock
(Rupicola rupicola), a bird of the family Cotingidae of the order Passeriformes. It is up to 30 cm long. The males have bright orange plumage, with black wing and tail feathers, and a crest of feathers on the head. The plumage of the females and young is brownish, and the crest is smaller. The cock of the rock is found in the mountain forests of South America, from Colombia and Guyana to Bolivia. In april, the mating period, the males gather in groups and give the mating call. The nest is built in crevices in cliffs, and the clutch contains two eggs. The bird feeds on fruit. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
