Cohen, Gerson D. (1924–91) rabbi, historian; born in New York City. A graduate of City College of New York, he became librarian of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America (1950–57), then professor of history. He was also professor of Semitic languages at Columbia University. While he was chancellor of the seminary (1972–86), the first women were admitted to its Conservative rabbinical program.
