Cohen, Paul J. (Joseph) (1934– ) mathematical logician; born in Long Branch, N.J. A National Academy of Sciences member, he taught longest at Stanford University (1964). Recipient of the Bocher Prize (1964) and National Medal of Science (1967), he included among his specialities axiomatic set theory, harmonic analysis, and partial differential equations.
