In central TX, southeast of Abilene; organized Feb 1, 1858 from Travis County. Name Origin: For Col. Robert M. Coleman (1799-1837), one of the signers of the TX Declaration of Independence.

Pop 2005: 8,665. State rank: 176. Pop change: 2000-20005 -6.20%; 1990-2000 -4.90%. Pop 2000: 9,235 (White 82.30%; Black or African American 2.20%; Hispanic or Latino 14.00%; Asian 0.20%; Other 9.00%). Foreign born: 3.40%. Median age: 43.00.
