Colman, Benjamin (1673–1747) Protestant clergyman; born in Boston, Mass. He graduated from Harvard in 1692 and later studied theology there. After a period in England, he returned to Boston to become pastor of the Brattle Street Church, which had been organized on more liberal principles than those of the city's three established churches. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Great Awakening revival movement and wrote prolifically on religious subjects. How to thank TFD for its existence?
