Combat Alert

    0.01 sec.
Combat Alert

the immediate bringing of troops to combat readiness. Combat alert is declared by an order of the superior commander, orally or by prearranged signals and instructions using technical communications and warning equipment. The combat alert may be general, at which time all the troops of the given garrison are brought to combat readiness, or it may be particular—that is, concerned with individual subunits only. When the combat alert signal is given, troops are to assemble and take their combat (firing or launching) positions as quickly as possible. The notification, assembly, and actions of troops on combat alert are carried on under tight security.
