Comecon

The concerns relate to trade (particularly for goods where EU applicants are switching from Comecom standards to EU standards, a phenomenon that has already hit Russian sales in the nuclear equipment, energy and aircraft markets), in tougher border controls as Schengen becomes part of the acquis communautaire, and in political terms (since Russia sees a link to NATO accession and to fomenting of anti-Russian sentiment).
