Communications Cable Junction Box
a deviceused to connect adjoining sections of communications cables. Among the specialized types of junction boxes are balancing boxes, in which special measures are taken to increase the protection of the cable circuits against mutual influence; coil-loaded boxes, in which all or some of the spliced conductors are connected by inductance coils, gas-tight boxes, which keep the cable under a constant excess pressure, thus monitoring the integrity of sheating; and insulating boxes, which, at the required points, provide a break in the circuit formed by the metal sheathing of a cable to protect the cable line against dangerous external cur-rents and voltages.
