Comoé
(also Komoé), a river in West Africa, primarily in the Republic of the Ivory Coast. Length, 900 km; basin area, 74,000 sq km. It rises in Upper Volta. In its upper course it flows through tall-grass savannas; in its lower course, through dense equatorial rain forests. The river empties into the Gulf of Guinea at Grand-Bassam. The river is fed by rain. Maximum water level occurs in September and October; there is low water in February. The mean annual flow rate in the lower course is 430 cu m per sec.
