Concealing Coloration 

a type of protective coloration characterized by variations in color on certain areas or the entire body of an animal. Examples are the simulated reliefs on some butterflies and the regular contrasting patterns—for example, stripes or spots—on mammals. Concealing coloration often enables an animal to blend with its environment.
