Connolly, Tom

Connolly, (Thomas Henry) Tom (1870–1961) baseball umpire; born in Manchester, England. His family moved to Natick, Mass., when he was 13. As an American League umpire (1901–31), he umpired the first ever American League game in 1901 and the first ever World Series game in 1903. He was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1953.
