Conchobar mac Nessaor ConorIn ancient Irish Gaelic literature, the reputed king of the Ulaids of northeastern Ireland at the beginning of the 1st century BC. In the Ulster cycle he is the ideal Irish king. In The Book of Leinster (c. 1160), Conor fell in love with the beauty Deirdre. Deirdre, however, was in love with Noísi, with whom she eloped and lived in Scotland; Conor's slaying of his rival caused a revolt in Ulster, and Deirdre killed herself.
