Coordinate Measuring Device

    0.01 sec.
Coordinate Measuring Device

an instrument for measuring coordinate points (of reference marks, localities, and the like) on topographical maps with rectangular coordinate grids. Such devices are also used for plotting points on maps according to coordinates. Sometimes the coordinate measuring device is a transparent rectangular film (celluloid or other) with a square cutout in the center and scales along the margins, corresponding to the sides of the squares of the coordinate grid on maps with scales of 1:25,000, 1:50,000, or 1:100,000.

It does not matter if it is about carrying out thorough inspections of machineries, providing quality control on the products being manufactured, or even reverse engineering a certain object, measurements through coordinate measuring devices deliver an effective and inexpensive option, rather than using unreliable measurement methods.
Dana's quality assurance technology employs 100-percent online coordinate measuring devices, which integrate, in real-time, the final machined dimensions of the gears, housing, and cover, calculating their optimum relative positions for final assembly.
A coordinate measuring device is also used in manufacturing and in the assembly process to test a piece or assembly from the intended design.
