Radioactive isotope of copper with mass number of 64; derived from pile-irradiation of metallic copper; used as a research aid to study diffusion, corrosion, and friction wear in metals and alloys.

Last month, the National Cancer Institute issued Welch a grant that will subsidize his team's making of copper-64 for itself and other medical researchers around the country.
OTTAWA -- Attention: Business & Health Editors Radioisotope shows potential for use in molecular imaging, drug development and radiotherapy MDS Nordion today announced the commercial availability of copper-64 (Cu-64).
New chelates will be assessed with a variety of MDS Nordion radioisotopes including: yttrium-90, lutetium-177, indium-111 and copper-64.
