Corcoran, James (Andrew) (1820–89) Catholic theologian, editor; born in Charleston, S.C. A prominent theologian at church councils, he coedited (1846–61) the United States Catholic Miscellany and (from 1876) edited the American Catholic Quarterly Review. He was also a pastor in the 1860s in Wilmington, N.C., where he went to assist during a yellow fever epidemic. He was named a monsignor in 1883. How to thank TFD for its existence?
