Corinna (redirected from Corinna of Tanagro)

Corinna (kərĭn`ə), fl. c.500? B.C., Greek poet of Tanagra. Her verse, fragments of which remain, deals with mythological themes and is written in Boeotian dialect. There exists no consensus on the date of her poetry, which some place as late as the 2d cent. B.C.

Corinna 

Greek poet of the fifth century B.C.; older contemporary of Pindar.

Corinna wrote melic lyrics that were sung to the accompaniment of stringed instruments. Only fragments of her work are extant. Ovid dedicated his Amores to her.
