Cornforth, Maurice Campbell
Born Oct. 28, 1909, in London. British Marxist philosopher. Cornforth graduated from the University of London in 1929 and from the University of Cambridge in 1931. He was a member of the district committee of the Communist Party of Great Britain in East Anglia from 1934 to 1946 and served as assistant editor of the journal Soviet News from 1946 to 1950. He has been the director of the Lawrence and Wishart publishing house since 1950. Cornforth actively propagates dialectical materialism. In his works he has criticized neopositivism—logical positivism and the philosophy of linguistic analysis—and has opposed anticommunist theories.
