Cornu, Auguste 

Born Aug. 9, 1888, in Beaune, France. French Marxist philosopher. Member of the Socialist Party of France from 1913. Communist from 1923. Professor at Humboldt University in Berlin from 1948 to 1956. Participant in the French Resistance Movement.

Cornu’s works on the development and history of Marxism are an important contribution to the study of these subjects. He was awarded the National Prize of the German Democratic Republic Third Class in 1959 and the Silver Order for Services to the Homeland in 1963.
