(microbiology)
A genus of gram-positive, straight or slightly curved rods in the coryneform group of bacteria; club-shaped swellings are common; includes human and animal parasites and pathogens, and plant pathogens.

We assessed the clinical relevance and performed molecular characterization of 36 multidrug-resistant strains of Corynebacterium striatum.
It is caused by a bacteria named Corynebacterium diphtheriae.
New organisms Three new bacteria have been proposed as important pathogens in otitis media: Corynebacterium mucifaciens, Pseudomonas otitidis, and Alloiococcus otitidis: Corynebacterium mucifaciens.
