Costa Cabral, António Bernardo da
Marquis ofTomar (from 1878). Born May 9, 1803, in Fornos de Algodres;died Sept. 1, 1889, in Sao Joao da Foz do Douro. Portuguesestatesman, leader of the Chartists, who supported a limited con-stitutional monarchy based on the Charter of 1826. From 1842to 1846 he was the head of the government and the de factodictator of Portugal.
