Councilman, William T. (Thomas) (1854–1933) pathologist; born in Pikesville, Md. He was affiliated with Johns Hopkins (1885–92), becoming resident pathologist, and he then became a professor of pathology at Harvard Medical School (1892–1921). He confirmed the discovery of and described Plasmodium malariae (1893–94), the sporozoan parasite that causes malaria, and investigated amoebic dysentery. How to thank TFD for its existence?
