Country Music Highway Address: c/o Southern & Eastern Kentucky Tourism Development Association 2292 South Hwy 27 Somerset, KY 42501 Phone: 606-677-6095; Web: www.countrymusichighway.com Description: Running almost the entire length of eastern Kentucky, byway was home to a large number of well-known country musicians who were born along an eight-county stretch of Highway US 23. These include Loretta Lynn, Wynonna Judd, Naomi Judd, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tom T. Hall, Ricky Skaggs, Keith Whitley, Dwight Yoakam, and Patty Loveless. Byway also passes through areas which are rich in the history of Native Americans, pioneers, the Civil War, and the mining industry. Legth: 144 miles. Start/Endpoint: Follows US 23 south from Ashland to Whitesburg, Kentucky. Time to Allow: 2.5 hours. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2002). See other parks in Kentucky.
