Courant, Ernest D. (David) (1920– ) physicist; born in Goettingen, Germany. He came to the U.S.A. in 1934. He taught and performed research in theoretical and atomic physics in several U.S. universities and in Canada before joining the Brookhaven National Laboratories (1948).
