Crawford, (John Wallace) “Captain Jack” (1847–1917) scout, author; born in County Donegal, Ireland. He came to the U.S.A. in 1854 and worked as a coal miner. He served with the Union forces in the Civil War and as a scout in campaigns against the Sioux and Apache Indians.
