Crawford, (Samuel Earl) Sam (1880–1968) baseball player; born in Wahoo, Nebr. As an outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Tigers (1899–1917), he hit more triples (312) than any player in history. Nicknamed "Wahoo Sam," he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1957.
