(mycology)
A genus of fungi in the phycomycetous order Saprolegniales; species cause root rot in plants.

This carries a fungal disease known as crayfish plague and the white-clawed crayfish is susceptible to it.
The larger American species carry a crayfish plague which has almost killed off all our white clawed variety.
