Cressey, Donald R. (1919–87) sociologist of crime; born in Fergus Falls, Minn. An authority on juvenile delinquency, organized crime, embezzlement, and other white-collar crimes, he was one of the foremost practicing sociologists of crime. After teaching at the University of California: Santa Barbara (1962–86), he assumed the presidency of the Institute for Financial Crime Prevention after retirement.
