Cressman, George (Palmer) (1919– ) meteorologist; born in West Chester, Pa. He founded the joint numerical weather prediction unit at the U.S. Weather Bureau in 1954 and was instrumental in developing worldwide weather prediction capabilities. Director of the U.S. Weather Bureau from 1965–79, he won many awards including the Robert M. Losey award in 1965. How to thank TFD for its existence?
