York River State Park Location: 11 miles west of Williamsburg, on Route 606. Facilities: Picnic area, picnic shelters, hiking trails, bike trails, bridle trails, self-guiding trails (é), boat launch, boat rentals, bike rentals, visitor center, toilets, amphitheater (é), playground. Activities: Boating, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, guided canoe trips, interpretive programs. Special Features: Park is known for its rare and delicate estuarine environment, where fresh and salt water meet to create a habitat rich in marine and plant life. Croaker Landing, found within the park, is an archeological site included in the National Register of Historic Places.
