Crow, (Herbert) Carl (1883–1945) author; born in Highland, Mo. A journalist who founded a newspaper at age 19, he worked after 1911 for newspapers in Shanghai and Tokyo and owned a Shanghai advertising agency (1919–37). His popular books about Far Eastern travel, customs, and markets include an early guidebook to China (1912).
