Prince Olav Coast
a coast in eastern Antarctica, situated on the shore of Kosmonavtov Sea between the Liitzow-Holm and Alasheev bays on the west and east, respectively. Length, about 250 km. The coast is the edge of the mainland ice sheet and has small rocky outcrops along the shore. At a distance of 50 km inland from the shore, the ice sheet reaches an elevation of 1,500 m. Prince Olav Coast was discovered in 1930 by a Norwegian expedition led by H. Riiser-Larsen and was named after the Norwegian prince (now king) Olav V.
