Crystal River Archaeological State Park Location: On Museum Pointe in Crystal River. Special Features: The six-mound complex, built by pre-Columbian mound builders, is considered one of the longest continuously occupied sites in Florida. For 1,600 years (200 BC to AD 1400), this area included an imposing prehistoric ceremonial center. It is estimated that 7,500 Indians might have visited the complex annually.
