Cuddalore or Kudalur (both: kŭd`əlôr'), city (1991 pop. 144,561), Tamil Nadu state, SE India. It is a port on the Bay of Bengal and a district administrative center, with fishing and shipbuilding industries. Although one of the major ports in India's Tamil Nadu state, Cuddalore handles less than 2% of India's total foreign trade.
