Location:From the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park on the Tennessee-Virginia-Kentucky border, to Signal Point near Chattanooga.

Special Features:On completion, the trail will be 300 miles, cutting through 11 counties. 150 miles of the trail are now open for exploration, winding through the Cumberland Mountains that once rose as high as the Rockies.

WHERE: Local trails that may be thru-hiked include the AT, Benton MacKaye Trail, Art Loeb Trail, NC Mountains-to-Sea Trail, Bartram Trail, Foothills Trail, Pinhotti Trail, Cumberland Trail and Pine Mountain Trail.
A portion of the Cumberland Trail will eventually pass 280 miles through the state along the plateau, from Cumberland Gap National Historical Park south to Signal Mountain above Chattanooga.
