Cunningham, Harry (Blair) (1907–92) retail executive; born in Home Camp, Pa. After 30 years with S. S. Kresge he became president and CEO (1959–72). In 1962 he opened the first Kmart discount store; by 1990 the corporation, renamed Kmart Corporation (1977), was the country's second largest retailer. He is credited with early recognizing and developing the potential of discount retailing.
