Curicó (k
rēkō`), city (1990 est. pop. 77,632), capital of Curicó prov., central Chile, near the Mataquito River. Founded in 1743, Curicó is the metropolis of a flourishing agricultural region noted for livestock raising and wine. The town was rebuilt after an earthquake destroyed it in 1928.Curicó a city in central Chile, capital of Curicó province. Population, 39,400 (1966). Railroad station. Curicó is the center of an agricultural region. Its industries include wine-making, flour-milling, and other branches of industry engaged in the processing of agricultural raw materials.
