Cursorius
a genus of birds of the family Glareolidae, order Charadriiformes. Their coloration is sandy-yellow, and the bill is recurved downward. There are three species, found in the desert regions of Africa, Southwest Asia (to India), and Ceylon. In the USSR one species, C. cursor, nests in southern Turkmenia. It flies and runs well.
