Curtis, Edward (Sheriff) (1868–1954) photographer; born in White Water, Wis. From 1896 to 1930 he traveled across North America to take stylized portraits of Native Americans from 80 different tribes in traditional dress, publishing 20 volumes and portfolios of photos (1930–54).
